The first task for the BDTB was to develop a Natural Resource
Management Regional Plan (NRMR Plan) and a Regional Investment
Strategy (RIS) to guide the investment of NAPSWQ and NHT funds to
NRM priorities within the Region.

NRM Plan Cover
Beginning in 2003, planning brought together all the known
information on the natural resources, as well as the social,
economic and cultural considerations for NRM throughout the region.
The BDTB also involved the whole community in developing targets
and priorities for NAPSWQ, NHT and other NRM investment in the
region. The NRMR Plan was finalised in February 2005 and was
accredited in June 2005 by the Queensland and Australian Government
Ministers.
The Regional Investment Strategy (RIS) is based on the NRMR Plan
and recommends investment to address NRM priorities in the region.
The RIS was approved in May 2005.
During the 2004-2005 planning phase the BDTB invested more than
$3.6 million across the region in a range of natural resource
management activities.
The comprehensive planning exercise gave the BDTB the potential
to invest a further $20 million in the region. The first investment
phase is due to be finalised in June 2007.
