Coastal Landcare in the Burdekin

Revitalisation of Landcare on the Burdekin Dry Tropics Coastal Plain: Landcare Project Officer and On-Ground Works

The Revitalisation of Landcare in the Burdekin Dry Tropics Coastal Plain project is a devolved grant scheme being run in the Bowen, Lower Burdekin and Townsville region. During round one 28 projects were carried out including:

  • Installation of off stream watering points and riparian fencing to protect waterways
  • Installation of recycle ponds to improve water quality
  • Property pest planning and removal of invasive weeds
  • Revegetation with native tubestock after removal of woody weeds  

The project, funded by the National Landcare Program is being run in partnership with Greening Australia (round two), Coastal Dry Tropics Landcare and Townsville City Council (round one).

Project Update:

The project steering committee has recently approved round two projects, and successful applicants are currently being finalised.
