Evaluating Capacity Building Activities in BDTNRM Projects

The purpose of this evaluation was to explore and evaluate the NRM Capacity Building activities of BDTNRM funded projects that incorporate significant capacity building components. The findings of the evaluation are intended to improve the effectiveness of future capacity building activities and help guide investment in relation to achieving Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM Plan targets.

Overall the approximately 3 million dollars spent annually on capacity building by Burdekin Dry Tropics (BDTNRM) has had a significant impact on the knowledge and awareness of NRM issues in the region as well as an increased motivation of groups to seek funds and participate in addressing NRM needs. The investment has demonstrably fostered networking, developed partnerships and improved relationships (social capital) across the relevant organisations and communities.
