Community capacity building is about increasing the knowledge
and influence people have over the future of their society, economy
and environment.
The social and economic climate of the time can have a major
effect on a community’s desire and capacity to engage in
environmental management activities.
A wide range of pressures, ranging from volatile world
commodity marks to consumer habits, diminish a community’s
capacity to engage in the NRM activities, . The declining condition
of rural extension services and technical support also contributes
to the decline of the rural population, with consequences for our
natural resources.
BDTNRM recognizes that considerable NRM related work is
currently being done by various agencies and organisations in the
region. Our objective is to build upon this work and to
employ the skills of our community coordinators to translate this
material into meaningful contexts.
Our Engagement and Knowledge activities include many new
initiatives linked with extension work, education awareness,
coordination and community involvement.
